They Step in to Help a Litter of Kittens and Meet One Determined Little Cat Who Runs the Show

They stepped in to help a litter of kittens in need and met one determined little cat who ran the show. PrimKelseyA mother cat named Paisley arrived at the shelter with her litter of three-week-old kittens in need of help. When Paisley stopped caring for her kittens, Kelsey, a foster volunteer, stepped in to bottle-feed them. Among the litter were Prim, a small tabby, and her sister Pru, a tuxedo cat. Though both were wobbly from a neurological condition, their spirits were unstoppable.Paisley happily retired from motherhood. Once she was spayed, she returned to her family. Meanwhile, her kittens settled into foster care and quickly made themselves at home. KelseyBesides her unsteady gait, Prim also had an eye condition. Yet this determined little tabby refused to let any of it stand in her way."Without a proper diagnosis, we treated it as if they had cerebellar hypoplasia (CH)," Kelsey shared with Love Meow. "We monitor their growth and progress like any other kitten, while staying mindful of their neurological symptoms." Prim didn't let her wobbliness stop her from having funKelseyWithin 24 hours, the kittens had mostly figured out how to bottle-feed. Even the wobbly sisters latched on like pros. When the weaning process began, Pedro, one of the ginger boys, hit a rough patch. But with supportive care and plenty of TLC, he bounced back quickly, regaining his ravenous appetite and playful spark. Pedro and PruKelseyAs the kittens transitioned to solid food, they hit a growth spurt. Day by day, Prim and Pru became steadier and more confident on their feet. Their once-pronounced wobbles nearly disappeared.Though Prim remained much smaller than her siblings, her fierce determination more than made up for it. Pedro, Peyton, and PrimKelsey"It's possible that she has involuntary eye movements which affect coordination and can mimic vision impairment. She will have a full neurological exam (soon)."Yet none of this holds her back. She can do everything her littermates do, using the litter box, chasing toys without missing a beat, and wrestling with wild enthusiasm. She's also an expert climber, often perched on her foster mom's shoulder like a tiny parrot cat. Prim loves perching on Kelsey's shoulderKelseyAs the kittens entered their boisterous phase, they caught the attention of the resident animals. Mr. Manager, the family cat, happily took the kittens under his wing. His two look-alike proteges, Peyton and Pedro, trailed him everywhere, eager to learn.Meanwhile, Prim was fascinated by Fletcher, the family dog, who occasionally stopped by the foster room for a friendly visit. Left: Prim and Fletcher; right: Mr. Manager and his proteges, Peyton and PedroKelseyWhile some of her siblings have grown big enough to be spayed and neutered, Prim still has a bit of growing to do. Despite her petite size and limited vision, she has a playful spirit, always seeking adventure."She is a silly girl who is very curious, and she loves to explore." KelseyWhenever Kelsey enters the room, Prim hops onto her lap or climbs up to her shoulder. She's constantly in motion, brimming with energy and affection. The moment Kelsey sets her down, Prim bounds right back into her lap as if to say, "I'm not done yet!"Her partner in mischief, Peyton, is always nearby. Together, they fill the foster home with laughter and kitten chaos. Prim and PeytonKelseyThanks to their foster family's love and dedication, the kittens were given a second chance at life. They are now thriving, and Prim is ready to face the world head-on with her fearless heart. KelseyShare this story with your friends.
